Bernie and many of his supporters keep acting like victims when he is arguably the most pampered serious contender to a major party's nomination in modern history. Nobody has been treated with so much deference and this diary will explore all of his privileges.
THE BASIC SET UP:
- Somebody asked this question last week but it bears to be repeated. Hillary keeps being trashed because of what her husband personal indiscretion in the 90s. How does the victim of infidelity becomes the villain is beyond me. Can you imagine if she was the one who actually divorced and had a kid out of wedlock? We would NEVER hear the end of it and she would have been laughed out of the race. Yet Bernie's marital issues are NEVER discussed and 99% of Americans wouldn't even know those biographical facts about him.
- Many analysts and supposedly serious journalists (in Bob woodward) have taken upon themselves to say that the problem with hillary and that she shouts too much & that she's the nagging wife.... The woman is running against Bernie who only has 1 register and it's the "scream mode". Like are you serious? She's the shouter of the 2? She's the one who needs to soften her tone? When she raises her voice: she shouts and it's unbearable; when he does it, he's being authentic.... wtf! www.youtube.com/...
- Hillary has been harassed by the media about releasing Wall Street speeches. A new standard never applied to the likes of Romney & Trump... Yet, she is the ONLY candidate running who has released 33 years of tax returns: the usual standards when discussing transparency. Bernie, Cruz, Trump, Rubio... not a single one of them has released a single full tax return. NONE. And the media seems ok with it. Yet, Hillary is still the only one being slandered as secretive when she's arguably the most open book candidate to ever run for president. We got her emails, we got her tax returns, we have 35 years of public record... but somehow. it's still not enough.
- When Obama ran for president, the media could never have enough of his religion. Is he christian? Muslim? How did he become a christian? Who's Rev Wright? What's black liberation theology? We know about Rubio's short stint as a mormon, we know about Carson's adventism, Romney had to make a speech on his Mormonism.. Yet, the media is radio silent on Bernie's atheism. As if it would not become a big topic in a general election. Why????? Does anybody believes that if Hillary was an atheist, it would not become a HUGE topic in the news media and the Times, Post, CNN would not have multiple high profile stories on it?
- When Hillary paraded in the New Hampshire primary with what is known as a media rope, keeping them at safe distance by the secret sercive. The news media had a mini breakdown and complained breathlessly about how inaccessible and guarded she was. Yet, Bernie gets away with walking off on reporters like he id in CO, refusing to answer questions and just being down right rude dis disrespectful (ie: Don't moan to me about...) and it's away ll covert as "oh, it's just cranky ole uncle Bernie ". Are you serious? I don't see countless negative stories about how difficult, arrogant and rude he is. www.youtube.com/...
- The media has scrutinized Rubio's wife multiple tickets. It seems like her inability to drive is news worthy according to the ny times. We know all about Ms. Cruz' depletion thanks to Donald, CNN & Msnbc. Michelle Obama's patriotism has been the subject of so many investigations. Melania Trump's career has been dissected by news outlet. And I'll just skip Bill Clinton. You'd think the media would find time to spend on Jane Sanders checkered & her shady land deals for which she was fired from Burlinton College www.sevendaysvt.com/.... She's been fired for playing loose with funds among other things. I'm still waiting on that high profile news segment. Also waiting on a story about Bernie penchant for putting his family on the tax payer or campaign dough. I won't hold my breath though.
- Bernie is walking around, playing the victim, whining and giving speeches that would lead you to believe that the election is being stolen from him by the super delegates. Nevermind that his only stated path to victory relies on them to overturn the popular vote to give him the nomination. He's losing the popular vote 57% to 43%; he's losing the pledged delegate vote 55% to 45%. Here's my 2 cents: "sorry straight white men, we know you are used to get anything you want but when a woman beats you at the ballot box, it is not illegitimate for her to get the nomination. Get over it!"
- Also, I remember how in 08; the media were breathlessly asking for Hillary to drop out the race as early as FEBRUARY. I remember everybody including her supporter Gov Rendell saying that if she didn't win BOTH OH & TX primaries, she should drop out of the race. The entire Fox news and Msnbc network were on a mission and kept saying that the only reason she was even given such leeway is because she was a Clinton. Fast forward 8 years later, we are in MAY, her lead is twice larger than Obama's lead ever was; Yet all I hear is how Clinton needs to show Sanders respect, how he's leading a movement and how nobody should push him out of the race... this double standard is the most sickening to me. www.washingtonpost.com/...
- Sanders pretends that he's only losing because of low turnouts & close primaries. Nevermind that Hillary has actually won more open primaries than he did (11 Vs. 5); then again, the south doesn't count I guess. Also the vast majority of contests he has dominated in are the ones with the smallest turnout of all: Caucuses. If he actually cared about votes disenfranchisement, he should spend more time ranting about Caucuses. Caucuses are litterally the same as a poll tax. Sorry but a lot of people can't afford to take 4 hours out of their day to go through a Caucuses process. Single moms, minorites, lower income voters are disenfranchised and those are the heart of Clinton's support. Not everybody has the same luxury as the white collar liberals, and college students or the support of a union who makes the majority of Sanders support and who tends to run those caucuses.
- Finally, the media keeps saying that Sanders' supporters have the most enthusiasm despite polls showing the opposite and Clinton getting 3 million more votes. Again, regarding is crowd size, it's the same issue as the caucuses. It has more to do with the demography behind him than actual enthusiasm. College kids are more likely to go to live concert so I'm not surprised they are more likely to attend rallies either. That's a a part of the college culture. A black single mom might not make it to the rallies, might not be able to afford $27 a month but it doesn't mean that she is any less enthusiastic... as we seen all over the south.
-
- Again, listening to the Sanders camp, you'd think that he's been through the ringer and that the Clintons & the media has dissected his record. That could not been further from the truth. Hillary's team has actually been hands off. He has yet to be the target of a single national ad campaign against him and it is not because he has a clean record. The only positions he has been held accountable for are his positions on Gun & immigration.
- But if the Clinton really wanted to go scorched earth or if the media did their job, we would be hearing much more about: his vote against the Amber Alert, his voted against tougher santions for serial sexually predators, his advocacy for children's sexual experimentation and on and on and on....
Like I said, this man has been the most pampered candidate in history and im tired of hearing him whine over losing fair and square.
