Update: Man found in Santa Monica armed with guns and possible explosives reportedly headed to gay pride event. Coincidence? Copy cat? Hysteria and suspect had no ill-intent? We will update when we know more.
Update: Seems Dan got the message, according to comments, the tweet is now reportedly deleted and replaced with a less sinister verse. — DS
I hardly know what to add to this, other than we’re just not going to let anyone out crazy us or out trash us down here in Texas:
Hours after approximately 50 people were killed at a Florida LGBT nightclub in what federal officials are investigating as an act of terrorism, the Lieutenant Governor of Texas is receiving backlash after tweeting a verse from the Bible.
About 7 a.m. Sunday Dan Patrick tweeted a photo with the words of Galatians 6:7. The verse reads, "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows."
Patrick’s spokesperson is now claiming the tweet was autoscheduled and part of a regular Sunday thing … in comments, Handful of Sky explains why that’s probably bullshit.
Twitter is a trainwreck right now. But if you can stand truly vile shit, the best tag I’ve found so far is #PulseNightclub.

Seems appropriate, even if it was written with a different massacre in mind — DS
Sunday, Bloody Sunday
Shooter is identified as Omar Mateen, a US citizen whose parents came to the US from Afghanistan. Mateen reportedly called 9-11 and pledged his allegiance to an ISIS leader during the hostage phase of the ordeal, sometime between 2 AM and 5 AM. But his father claims this wasn’t about religion:
The father of the Orlando night club shooter says his family apologizes for “the whole incident.” He adds that the shooting had nothing to do with religion, but added that his son “got very angry when he saw two men kissing” months before in Miami.
