In tonights Washington Post Lady Gaga gave her heartfelt words on the loss of our Fellow Brothers and Sisters in the LGBTQ Community. We were shocked when we turned our T.V. on Sunday Morning to hear of not only the largest loss of life in an attack in the United States but also in a popular Gay Bar/Dance Club.
My husband I have been together 26 years. We are 59 and 60. 25 years ago we were in those dance clubs. It was a place of safety to be who we were when it was not so accepted publicly much less with our families. Occasionally people would drive by on Oak Lawn in Dallas where most of the Gay Clubs are and shout gay slurs or throw things from their car, but that was on a rare occasion.
Now my husband and I always talk to each other about how happy we are for LGBTQ youth or adults to come out. How there are so many support groups and Millennials are so much more accepting.
And then we turn on our T.V. on Sunday June 12th to this horror. We both just wept. How could this be. And, after Sandy Hook and now Orlando will the GOP do anything to help not only deal with ending the sale of Assault Rifles but also make it more difficult to buy guns and also do background checks on ammunition as they now do in California
Please watch the video and read the rest of this article in the Washington Post: In front of Los Angeles City Hall, she began by saying that the violence was an “attack on everyone” and that she wanted to “take a real moment and mourn the tragic loss of the innocent, beautiful people.”
“Let’s all today pledge an allegiance of love to them and to their families who are suffering so deeply,” Gaga said in front of a large crowd at a vigil for the victims. “They are sons and daughters. They were fathers and mothers. They are all our brothers and our sisters.”
The pop star said she refused to let her anger over the attack overshadow the need to honor the victims. Wiping her nose and with her eyes filled with tears, the singer briefly paused before continuing.
“I hope you know that myself and so many are your allies,” she said, pointing at the crowd, which burst into applause. “Not only me, but everyone here. We represent the compassion and the loyalty of millions of people around the world that believe in you.
“You are not alone, you are not alone.” www.washingtonpost.com/…
Please listen and share Lady Gaga’s words of Compassion and Support to the families in Orlando but also to Our LGBTQ Community. Together We Are Stronger.
