Chris Fedalei running for Congress!
Spartanburg’s own Congressman Trey Gowdy will face a democratic challenger in this year’s general election and half Gowdy’s age.
26 year old lawyer, Chris Fedalei threw his hat in the ring, Wednesday. He’s running on a platform of restoring the idea of service in the office of Congress.
The USC law school graduate and Spartanburg native comes from a military background. His father, grandfather and great grandfather were military officers. While Fedalei says he’s chosen public service over military service, his mission as a Congressman would be to ensure our nation’s veterans receive adequate health care.
Chris goes on to talk about how we should not be leaving our veterans “out in the cold”, not funding their healthcare and not keeping our promises to them.
That is a pretty good start to a promising democratic platform.

I started out supporting Chris as an act of revenge against Trey Gowdy, to get him out of congress for Hillary’s sake. But I just read Chris’s speech to this Press Conference and I want him in our US Congress.
Remarks by Chris Fedalei at July 8th Press Conference
My name is Chris Fedalei and during this moment of disbelief, of anger, of chaos across the country, it is important that we come together as a community to acknowledge loss and work to address the issues that have led us here. That’s why I have all of these strong people with me, who represent our people on city and county council, in law enforcement, in the church, and in our community. These are problems that we must tackle everywhere and at once. We must share both our grief and our resolve.
First, we must confront the sadness brought to the nation by the most recent killings, not just of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, but also the terrible slaying of 5 officers in Dallas last night.
...
When I get pulled over, I’m worried about the points on my license, fingers crossed that maybe he’ll give me a warning, then send me on my way. I have never feared for my life. I’ve never been worried about being beaten or shot, or watched it happen to a friend. I’ve never had a console someone’s child who must now grow up without a parent.
I’ve always known a traffic stop as a traffic stop, but there are too many Americans where a traffic stop is another moment that they must steel themselves against potential abuse.
For too long black parents have had to give their children the talk. I have had black parents tell me they teach their children seven words when interacting with the police: “Yes sir, no sir, Thank you sir.” They do this not to enforce proper etiquette. They teach them this to keep them alive. All too often that is not enough, and so we cannot be satisfied with our efforts either.
As the killings grow more and more frequent, and the days of inaction turn into weeks, the weeks turn into months, and the months turn into years. To be concerned and passionate about this issues is not to be against law enforcement. We recognize that our police officers do difficult, often thankless work and we thank them for their sacrifice. To say Black Lives Matter in no way implies the lives of others don’t.
Our leaders in Congress have done nothing, so it is up to us to change that.
... Systemic racism can only be dismantled and tackled through the people fighting every day for change and mutual trust between the police and the people they serve can only be built through sincerity and understanding.
I believe that we can unite behind these causes and, with the right leaders in our community, live in a safer future.
Thank you and I’ll take your questions.
Okay women, read below, he is single from what I can find out and I think he is cute! If it weren’t for my Italian boyfriend and my two sons, I would take a drive to SC to volunteer for his, um campaign….

Democrat Chris Fedalei officially announced his candidacy Wednesday for the 4th Congressional District seat.
Fedalei, 26, of Greenville, is challenging Republican U.S. Rep. Trey Gowdy of Spartanburg for the seat in November. Fedalei is a 2008 Spartanburg High School graduate who earned a bachelor's degree in political science and philosophy from the University of South Carolina in 2012. He graduated from USC's law school in 2015 and recently passed the bar exam.
"My campaign above all else is about service to the people of the 4th District," Fedalei said in a statement.
I am really liking this young man. I wish I lived closer so I could volunteer for his campaign. Also as single mother I really can not donate much. But I hope some of you will.
Chris regarding the E-ghazi hearings.
Chris Fedalei didn’t appreciate inspirational quotes until he began his run for Congress.
He told Elite Daily:
Every cliché you’ve ever heard about chasing your dreams or fulfilling your goals is exactly true. When opportunity knocks don’t ask questions, just kick the door down and go for it.
Fedalei is doing just that in his campaign as a Democrat for South Carolina’s fourth Congressional District, which he announced earlier this spring.
Fedalei is 26 years old and graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law last year.
He is running against one of the country’s most well-known congressmen: Rep. Trey Gowdy.
Gowdy made a name for himself on a number of Congressional committees. You may remember his staunchly anti-abortion statements at the Congressional hearing on Planned Parenthood last fall.
If that doesn’t ring a bell, you may know Gowdy as the chair of Congress’s seemingly interminable committee on Benghazi, which held an 11-hour testimony with Hillary Clinton that Gowdy basically admitted was useless.
So Fedalei doesn’t necessarily see it as a negative that he’s running against a well-known incumbent. Fedalei said:
Just because you’re nationally known doesn’t mean you’re nationally known for the right reasons. I think Trey Gowdy is known for all the wrong reasons.
He’s known for a wasteful — to say the least — congressional investigation that has spent over $6 million and taken longer than it took to investigate the JFK assassination and 9/11.
Fedalei also believes Gowdy’s national focus has taken away from local interests. In his district in South Carolina, Fedalei said, there is low education, increasing poverty — especially childhood poverty — and a loss in job opportunity.
Fedalei’s campaign is focused on public service. His main platform pieces are criminal justice reform and veterans’ issues.
Fedalei is concerned about mass incarceration and its disproportionate effect on minority people. He actually went to law school to learn more about criminal justice and get into public policy.
Along with taking a person away from their family, work and education, mass incarceration costs the public money, Fedalei said:
...
Things do not get better by lack of participation.
I guess that is enough reading for today. Please recommend so that Chris Fedalei the future Congressman from SC can get some donations. Other wise I would never ask.
