When four Americans were murdered in the attacks on our Lybian embassy back in 2012, our country mourned their loss. The Republican Party saw an opening to attack then Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton. They investigated and were unable to discover anything of note, but have subsequently kept the Benghazi investigation alive in the hopes of keeping the right wing’s general cloud of “suspicion” over anything with the name “Clinton” attached to it. Has it been a waste of time and money? Sure it has. How much of a historical waste of time is this? Here’s an easy to read one page fact sheet. To date, the Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi, Libya has lasted 2 years and almost 2 months (established May 8, 2014). Gowdy and friends have had an unlimited budget—expended more than $7 million to date
To put that into perspective the Warren Investigation into President John F Kennedy’s assassination took nine months and 27 days. The Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor investigation took nine months and 15 days. Iran-Contra hearings expended four-million dollars while lasting 10 months and 13 days.
9/11 COMMISSION
National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States
1 year, 7 months, and 25 days (2002-2004)
Expended $15 million according to press reports
I realize that people have an “aversion” to Hillary Clinton. I also realize that the Republican Party has a vested interest in Hillary Clinton not becoming the President of the United States. But, God man, have some dignity! Tell America why your candidate, Donald Trump, a) Speaks to your constituency enough to win the nomination, and b) what he has to offer that Hillary Clinton cannot offer. I’m sure your guys have all kinds of great ideas!
