Video Morning Joe 8/26/2016
The gloves have definitely come off now. Hillary’s speech yesterday was incredible.
The “Sound of Silence” from the likes of Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, and Reince Priebus has been deafening, as pointed out by ThinkProgress’ Judd Legum.
ThinkProgress:
The Most Important Reaction To Hillary Clinton’s Speech On Trump’s Racism
The sound of silence.
Today, Hillary Clinton delivered a blistering and unprecedented speech, labeling her opponent, Donald Trump, a lifelong racist.
She did not mince words, arguing that his racial bias rendered him unfit to serve.
….
Still, Trump is the leader of the Republican Party. Branding him a racist is a fundamental threat to the viability of the party now and in the future.
You would expect the leaders and elected officials of the party to rally to his side, blast Clinton’s speech as a smear and demand an apology.
Instead, there has been silence.
Nothing from Paul Ryan. Nothing from Mitch McConnell. Nothing from Reince Priebus. Nothing on the official GOP Twitter account or the GOP.com website. Very telling.
Hillary went on Morning Joe this morning and continued her blistering attack on Donald Trump:
.
USNews and World Report:
Clinton Tells 'Morning Joe' Trump Has a 'Long History of Racial Discrimination'
“All I can do is point to the evidence of what he has said, and what he has done from the start. He has built his campaign on prejudice and paranoia,” Clinton said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” Friday after being asked whether she personally considered Trump a bigot. Then she listed them, saying Trump took “hate groups that lived on the dark spaces of the internet and making them mainstream,” courted white supremacists, was sued for housing discrimination and attacked a federal judge for his Mexican heritage.
A man who has a “long history of racial discrimination, who “traffics in dark conspiracy theories” culled from supermarket tabloids “should never run our government or command our military,” the Democratic nominee said during a 25-minute phone interview with the morning news show.
Wow. Tell us what you REALLY think, Hillary.
.
Hillary’s team also released this web ad, tying Trump to white supremacist hate groups:
.
“The Briefing” ads are web ads, they won’t air on TV in any states or nationally. They are meant to drive a point home. Trump’s ties to white nationalist hate groups are real. They align with the KKK and other white supremacy groups. It is a very harsh ad, but in this case, I believe, it is apt and warranted, as Trump has retweeted from known white supremacists many times, he feigned ignorance when specifically asked about the KKK and David Duke, refused to disavow these groups when asked to. Steve Bannon, his new campaign CEO, from Breitbart fame has extensive ties to the white supremacist movement as well.
Later in the interview the topic (and nothingburger) of the Clinton Foundation came up, which I thought Hillary handled very well. Click on the video and go to around 5 minutes into the interview to get to that segment.
