Donald Trump just brought a group of (white) grieving parents on stage at his Arizona rally to tell their heartbreaking stories of the murders of their children by the hands of brown people. Well, not dark brown people but maybe sort of Mexican-brown people. You know, those same brown people that if we built a wall wouldn’t be here to murder our children. But if we look at FBI data, overwhelmingly we kill our own. Whites kill whites, blacks kill blacks, purples kill Barney. There is no stage big enough to hold all the parents of all the children killed by violent crime. Shame on him for cherry-picking in the name of hate and fomenting fear against people who don’t look like us.
His plan and rhetoric has not changed. There has been no “softening” to try to get the votes from anyone with over a 9th-grade education. No amnesty. Mexico will pay for that big, beautiful really awesome wall. Eleven million people will be rounded up and shipped out of the country. Oh but we will do it nicely! The buses will have windows that open! We might stop and let you pee!
According to Trump, you can only be here if you agree with our values. But whose values? Trump’s? Does that mean that I have to divorce my aging husband and replace him with an Olympic volleyball player? OK, but you twist my arm...
His "speech on immigration" was supposed to be a defining moment in the Trump campaign and indeed it was. It cemented his position as one of the most racist, xenophobic, truly awful candidates for president we have ever seen on a ballot.
