Donald Trump has continually falsely claimed that he opposed the Iraq War from the outset, as if he has a leadership bone in his body. But the Washington Post has charted Donnie's Iraq War evolution based on his actual public statements and guess what: Trump's done nothing but follow public opinion on the matter.
From his Sept 11, 2002, support before the war to calling it a "tremendous success" in 2003 at the outset to assailing it as a "mess" by 2004, Trump's done nothing but follow. See for yourself:
In case you’re wondering why Trump panned the invasion on March 24, 2003, just a few days after calling it a “tremendous success,” here’s your answer:
The Post reported that there was another aspect to Trump's frustration. Trump "pronounce[d] on the war and the stock market," our report read. The Oscars were on March 23; on March 24, the Dow dropped 307 points. Why? Because the war was a mess. Or, as CNN Money reported, quoting an investment banker, "People are realizing that the war is going to be longer and more drawn out than anticipated."
Trump’s reactive through and through. He “hits back.” These are simply not the qualities that a leader or a visionary demonstrates.
