The value of the American dollar is sustained by the faith and confidence in the American people, our economy and the stability of our international relations. So, what would happen if Donald Trump was elected President? He threatens to undermine most of our trade treaties, rejects the Affordable Heathcare Act, plans to round up and eject illegal aliens, throws our NATO alliances into question, and refuses to take first strike use of nuclear weapons off the table.
While his followers are blindly supporting him in most of his absurd notions, I wish economists would simply look at what his presidency would do to the almighty dollar. Just as the Brexit vote brought a collapse in the value of the pound, the election of Trump would have disastrous effects on the dollar. And the implications of that should be considered.
