Here’s a short little feel-good story for your Saturday night.
“It’s a little tardy, but I’m happy.”
Those are the words of Menia Perelman, 100, when she became a United States citizen along with 133 other South Florida residents.
She survived 4 years in a Nazi concentration camp, but when she and her husband first tried to come to the United States after WWII, they were turned away due to immigration restrictions. They ended up settling in Latin America, but she achieved her dream of living in the US in 1993.
The reason she finally, after all these years, got US citizenship?
To vote for Hillary Clinton.
So why now, at 100 years old, did she want to make it official? It’s simple. She wanted to vote in this year’s presidential election.
For whom, you might be wondering?
“You know, it’s a secret, but I will tell you. Hillary. Hillary,” she said.
So if all goes well between now and November 8, we’ll be able to tally one more vote in Florida for the first woman President.
