When I was fist diagnosed with diabetes my A1C was about 12.3.
Since that time I got it down to 6.1. That was when I was also on another drug to help. Of course the insurance company I got switched to stopped carrying it on its formulary so my doc switched me to metformin. As such my A1C rose to 7.3 and now it is at 8.3.
For those of you not familiar with A1C:
The A1C test is a blood test that provides information about a person’s average levels of blood glucose, also called blood sugar, over the past 3 months. The A1C test is sometimes called the hemoglobin A1c, HbA1c, or glycohemoglobin test. The A1C test is the primary test used for diabetes management and diabetes research

I am worried as my A1C keeps going up and I’ve started to have mild neuropathy in my feet.

So I am curious as to people’s knowledge of their A1C, both diabetic and non-diabetic. Do you ever get yours tested? Do you know your value?
