So today this happened at CPAC.
“Obamacare covers very few people. And remember, deduct from the number all of the people that had great health care that they loved, that was taken away from them,” he said. “Millions of people were very happy with their health care. They had their doctor. They had their plan.”
“Remember the lie? 28 times. ‘You can keep your doctor. You can keep your plan.’ Over and over and over again you heard it. So we're going to repeal and replace Obamacare,” Trump said.
People whose plans were cancelled [many of them wrongfully] were all offered new plans, those people didn’t lose coverage, they got different — usually better — coverage.
The type of plans that existed prior to the ACA were allowed to continue, they were grandfathered and protected under the ACA — they just weren’t forced to remain in place. Insurance companies themselves made the choice, and sometimes they chose to upsell a newer plan rather than retain an old one.
Some insurers were even fined as much as $65,000 for this practice.
But don’t let #RealFacts stop Trump.
Talkingpointsmemo reports.
The Congressional Budget Office, in an analysis published last month, estimated that repealing the Affordable Care Act would result in an increase of 32 million Americans without health insurance by 2026. They based the analysis on a 2015 bill to repeal the law, passed by Congress and vetoed by President Barack Obama, which would have immediately eliminated the individual mandate and phased out Medicaid expansion and subsidies to people buying insurance through the marketplace over two years.
He also as usual attacked the media.
A few days ago I called the Fake News the “Enemy of the People” and they are, they are the enemy of the people. Because they have no sources, they just make ‘em up. But I am only against the fake news media or press. Fake. Fake. They delete word. I’m only against the people that make up stories and make up sources, they shouldn’t be allowed to use sources unless they use somebodies name. Let their name be put out there.
That’s real funny right after White House Chief of Staff tried to strong-arm the FBI into anonymously denying a New York Times report on members of his staff making regular contacts with Russian Intelligence.
And then the White House blocked CNN, the New York Times, the L.A. Times from a press gaggle with Sean Spicer.
There was no immediate explanation from the White House.
The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and Politico were also excluded from the meeting, which is known as a gaggle and is less formal than the televised Q-and-A session in the White House briefing room.
The Associated Press and Time magazine boycotted the briefing because of how it was handled. The White House Correspondents Association is protesting.
The conservative media organizations Breitbart News, The Washington Times and One America News Network were allowed in.
Yeah, they let in their pet stenographers, but not the media who ask real question or real investigations. They let in the politically biased media, who admit they’re all biased, but locked out those who are at least trying — to sometimes — inform the American people as honestly and fairly as they can.
That’s so wonderfully petty, petulant and totalitarian of them.
