LOOK!!! Look what I got!!! ::points up to the picture of food::
I’ve been feeling a bit uninspired about food recently, last week’s fish notwithstanding. It can be frustrating to go grocery shopping and find very little interesting or new that meets my dietary requirements (very low carb, I aim for <30g net carbs per DAY, not meal). So Mr. Brillig got me a present that arrived today. It’s actually a recurring present! Grab a favorite beverage and join me below the story break, after a word from our sponsor of course...
Here at Top Comments we welcome longtime as well as brand new Daily Kos readers to join us at 10pm Eastern. We strive to nourish community by rounding up some of the site's best, funniest, most mojo'd & most informative commentary, and we depend on your help!! If you see a comment by another Kossack that deserves wider recognition, please send it either to topcomments at gmail or to the Top Comments group mailbox by 9:30pm Eastern. Please please please include a few words about why you sent it in as well as your user name (even if you think we know it already :-)), so we can credit you with the find!
What he got was a recurring KetoKrate, that I’ll receive for several months and that lets me find all sorts of goodies (primarily snacks) that I cannot purchase in my local grocery stores. In this Krate I have Thai Spiced Peanut Butter (and recipe for Thai Spiced Shrimp over Cauliflower Rice), Coconut Goji sprinkle mix, Sea Salt & Cracked Pepper Peanuts, Sea Salt Pecans (which I can report taste amazing!!), BBQ Pork Rinds, a Lemon Cheesecake bar, and sugar-free chocolate that does NOT contain maltodextrin or maltitol (both of which are known to cause blood sugar spikes). It also contains coupon codes for hefty savings on anything I try and want to purchase from the source. I am delighted with this first box, a total surprise when it arrived today, and am already thinking about how nice it will be to receive a surprise each month!
I also began a MightyFix subscription, a deal the folks at Mighty Nest have. For $10/mo, they send me one product from their catalog that replaces a less healthy choice. So far I’ve gotten beeswax-coated fabric to replace most of the things I use plastic wrap for, and dryer balls that have replaced dryer sheets. The item shipped always is worth more than the price I paid, and anything else I order that ships at the same time also ships free. I won’t continue this one past the intro special ($99 for the year, or two months free at the monthly $10 rate) but I will have a good idea by that point what substitutions work for me, and will be able to continue on my own.
I know many people subscribe to one of a growing variety of meal kit in a box services, and love them. Due to my dietary complications those aren’t an option for us, but I do admit to drooling over the food pictures that result on my Facebook feed!! There also are services that send a box of clothes, or makeup, or kids science projects or crafts, and so many other varieties!!!
I remember many years ago belonging to a book of the month club, that sent one or more books and we had a certain number of days to decide whether or not to keep it. The current options seem to cater to our desire to try new things and our busy schedules that don’t let us search for and find such things ourselves. Have you subscribed to anything like I’ve described here? Please share your experiences in the comments, after taking a look at the lovely assortment of Tops BeninSC has assembled for you tonight!!
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.

For Friday, March 10, 2017, first comments and tip jars excluded. Thank you mik for the mojo magic! For those of you interested in How Top Mojo Works, please see his diary on the subject.
