Decades after blasting through the ‘smoke and obstruction’ of another unethical President, legendary reporter Carl Bernstein has a few choice things to say, about the current Occupant of the White House. And the current goings-on now happening there

Donald Trump engaged in 'cover up' over Russian links to election campaign, says Carl Bernstein
The President should 'want to get to the bottom of this', says influential reporter

"The cover-up is among those who worked in the Trump campaign and associates of Trump and it’s now becoming much more clear what it is that they have been concealing which are these contacts, which revolve around leaked emails from Podesta's account.”

“What we’re seeing is push back, smoke screens, an attempt to keep away from what really happened here by the President of the United States," he told the broadcaster, adding that it "raises a whole set of additional questions."
The President instead should “want to get to the bottom of this,” Mr Bernstein said.
The President should “want to get to the bottom of this” — IF indeed he was innocent of the nefarious contacts being investigated. But that’s not what he’s doing, in fact and in deed, he is trying to ‘bury the story’ of his campaign’s many, many Russian contacts. That is not what an innocent man does — an innocent/ethical man says:
“Let the facts be known — Let my own actions will speak for themselves.”
That is not what Trump is saying, now is it? That is not what many Republicans are calling for either.
...
Republican Sen. Howard Baker once asked of President Nixon, when a cloud of suspicion hung over his Administration, “What did the president know, and when did he know it?”
...
Where are these ‘profiles in courage’ today, from the ranks of the GOP?
Hiding behind someone’s inane (and unfounded) Twitter-feed — that’s where they are! Like that kind of butt-kissing, will bide them well, when their own time for reflection and judgment has come.
… “Well at least he stood behind lying Trump,”
is a helluva a thing to have written on one’s tombstone, now isn’t it.
