The long-awaited special election for Georgia's 6th Congressional District is finally here! Voters in the north Atlanta suburbs are casting ballots to determine who will replace Tom Price, Donald Trump's pick for health secretary, in the House. Democrats have united around investigative filmmaker Jon Ossoff, a former aid to Reps. John Lewis and Hank Johnson, while the GOP field remains badly split between 11 different candidates.
The Daily Kos community put Ossoff on the map with an early endorsement and has since donated an astounding $1.5 million to his campaign, in the form of over 115,000 donations—an average of less than $13. It's been a remarkable showing for what has historically been a very Republican district. The question tonight is whether Ossoff can clear 50 percent of the vote and win outright, or whether he'll advance to a June 20 runoff against a Republican opponent. Tune in when polls close at 7 PM ET for our liveblog at Daily Kos Elections!

Ann Arbor is known for a lot of things, including the University of Michigan, the Huron River, bountiful parks and nature areas, a progressive culture, a happening downtown, low crime, a healthy economy, regular festivals and free outdoor music, and strong schools and neighborhoods.
According to a study by Niche.com, it's the No. 1 best city to live in the United States of America.
Years after one of the partners died, a state appeals court on Monday ruled that a same-sex couple had a legitimate common-law marriage decades before same-sex marriage became legal in Pennsylvania.
The Superior Court ruling means that as the surviving partner, Michael Hunter has the same legal rights, including shared property rights, that any other widow or widower would have following their spouse's death.
It also opens the door to the recognition of other same-sex common-law marriages that were entered into before the state abolished common-law marriage in January 2005.
- And across the pond, hold the door! (Game of Thrones viewers will get that reference.)
Game of Thrones star Kristian Nairn is planning to enter politics to fight for same-sex marriage in Northern Ireland.
While the 6ft 10in actor may be used to holding the door in a fantasy land, he plans to bust it wide open on issues of equality.
