Republican Chairwoman Moves the Goal Posts on Electoral Politics
In an interview on Greta today, Republican Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel claimed victory for the Republican Party in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District based on Karen Handel’s second place finish in the Special Election to replace Rep. Tom Price. Price is the monster who President Donald Trump chose to head the newly renamed Department of illHealth and inHuman disServices.
While the AJC published some incorrect calculations of the data on the front page today, Weds. April 19, 2017, we can use most of it anyway since it’s getting late and I want to go to bed.
According to most vote counters, Jon Ossoft garnered 48% of the vote, to Karen Handel’s 18%, Dan Moody’s 9%, Bob Gray’s 9%, and Judson Hill’s 7%. The 13 other candidates each earned 1%, 0%, 0%, 0%, 0%, 0%, 0%, 0%, 0%, 0%, 0 %, 0% and 1%., of the e
Counting the actual votes on my fingers, Ossoft received 53,298 votes and the 18 Republicans received a total of 53616. By Ronna McDaniel’s and my calculations, the Republican Party “won” the election by a surplus of 318 votes.
On Greta today, Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel claimed victory because Ossoft did not earn the magic 51% .of the overall vote.

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairwoman released the following statement on the special election in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District:
“Georgia voters made it clear they want to keep conservative values in the 6th District, and I congratulate Karen Handel for emerging from a large and qualified Republican field,” said Chairwoman McDaniel. “Tonight, voters listened to President Trump’s call to reject the tax-and-spend, soft on crime policies of Jon Ossoff, and I’m confident they will do the same when they return to the polls to elect Karen Handel as the next congresswoman from Georgia’s 6th District. These liberal Democrats failed to inspire voters with a candidate who couldn’t even vote for himself, received 97 percent of his donations from outside the district, and consistently lied about his own weak resume. For the second week in a row, Democrats have misread the electorate, falling short to Republicans and wasting millions of dollars in the process.”

By Chairwoman McDaniels logic, or lack thereof, second place is a “win.” so take that you lying, uninspiring, resume cheating, money raising, wow, so much money, Democrat.
Since Chairwoman McDaniel claimed a awesome “victory” for the Republicans in the 6th Congressional District by finishing second, then, the Atlanta Falcons should also claim “victory” for their second place finish in last January’s Super Bowl. Hear me now, NFL, send the Falcons their duly earned Super Bowl trophy! Thank you.
