In the wake of Donald Trump's interview destroying his press team's entire rationale for firing James Comey, Sean Spicer floated a lot of "I don't knows" and "No further comments" Friday, as one might expect. But one of the stranger nuggets from that press conference was Spicer's declaration that the reason Trump thinks the story about his campaign colluding with Russia is a hoax is because Sen. Chuck Grassley told him so.
I think the president's comment about the Russia collusion have been very clear, with respect to some of the charges that have been made. He's been very clear that it's one thing that he believes that the investigation -- that the notion that there's collusion is a hoax. It's been reaffirmed by several people, including Senator Grassley and others, who have spoken to him.
Let's just say that we eagerly await Grassley's response to that statement. We also wonder how long it will be before Trump produces a letter thanking Grassley for informing him "on three separate occasions" that there was no collusion. Because in Trumpworld, that's proof.
