I had read online that some pages had disappeared entirely from the Whitehouse.gov website, and courtesy of the Wayback Machine website, I was able to do screen caps of the page before 1/20, and then after. All of the items boxed in red have been scrubbed from the website now.
I can certainly understand, on some level, why some items were eliminated. They’ve removed all of the media galleries, the previous administration’s initiatives, and I’m not really surprised they removed all of the digital topics, and any programs regarding innovation or technology (under “Join Us”). But some of the deletions are interesting, and some are downright worrying.
Under the heading of “From the Press Office”, they’ve eliminated the Weekly address link as well as the White House Schedule link. So, will the new POTUS even do a weekly address at all? Will the White House schedules no longer be available to the public?
Under Issues, I’ve charitably left a few items unboxed that on the new website have been sloganized (i.e. Foreign Policy, Defense, and Trade) to fit with the MAGA campaign-style speak. Every other issue item has been deleted, so apparently we’re not supposed to care about any of them.
Under The Administration section, they’ve scrubbed it of all entities related to the rest of the Executive Branch that aren’t part of the cabinet. That includes things like the Council of Economic Advisors, the National Security Council, Office of Management and Budget, National Economic Council, you know….unimportant things like that.
They also removed a link at the very bottom called Resources, which was pretty innocuous, as it just included links to things like the House of Representatives, the United States Senate, the Supreme Court, Library of Congress, etc.
The most frightening elimination though? The Judicial Branch. Apparently, the New World Order under President Trump doesn’t believe that the Judicial Branch exists any longer. The page didn’t include any kind of partisan information at all, or anything that would change under a new presidential administration. It’s just informative information about the Judicial Branch of our government. It doesn’t even include the name of the current members of SCOTUS. So, why pull it down?
