Life can be funny. Sometimes hysterical. Other times, it can make you question everything. Yesterday was that type of day. Trump doubled down (predictably) on bashing the gold star families and the Senator that was with them when he spoke on speakerphone and forgot La David Johnsons name and told her, “he knew what he signed up for". Accusing her of "politicizing" a "tragedy". The fact she was invited, a close friend of the family and knew this particular soldier dearly, escaped the Generals and Trump. She tweeted late last night she would make no more comments about it and stood by what the family "verified" that Trump actually said. That it was over, as she wanted the family to have their privacy and time to mourn without it being about her or Trump. Trumps response? Continue calling her names and picking a fight and calling her a liar in a tweet several hours later. Even though his own Generals confirmed on air he actually said it, he still denies it and calls the family and the senator a "liar".
Trump is such a pathetic little man. He isn’t even close to being a real President. He is barely a "real" man. He should never be allowed to be in charge of our military or its weaponry as he has demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of what that encompasses. Yesterday he sent three Generals out to try and somehow "justify" his horribly worded conversation with the widow and parents of La David Johnson. It was a horrible, inappropriate and uncalled for abuse of Presidential power and something easily corrected by a well worded and thought out apology call to the family. Easy. But Trump would have to be acting like an empathetic, caring Human being; something he is unable to ever do. Instead he continues to double down on the original lies, now having his Generals go out to defend him. A Sad little man indeed.
The really sad part was we had two former "Presidents" on the state of our Country Now. Both Bush and Obama reminded us of what a "real" President can and should act and sound like. And they, like John McCain, did it without EVER using Trumps name out loud! So very cool. They made us remember what real presidents should be; uniters, not dividers. Who sought to bring us together, not separate us? Who sought to bring out our best and brightest, not the underbelly and darkest parts of our pasts? I’m not a big GW Bush fan, but yesterday he sounded exactly like a President. He was eloquent and precise and in rare form. He made sense and I hope reminded the Republican Party what a real Republican President SHOULD sound like!
President Obama made me wish we would have repealed the term limits and left a real President at the helm. Instead we got a white privileged, self-serving racist bigot who divides and lies and preaches and practices war with the Press, Blacks and Muslims, The poor, sick, disabled, vets and gold star families, as well as members of his own party, democrats, Independents and women. In general, everyone NOT named Trump and Not white and rich.
Trump has completely failed as a Human, a Republican, a male and as President. He failed us all. Today he announced he "gave himself" a 10 out of 10 for his handling of our Hurricane disasters. 79% of Puerto Rico is without power and 28% still don’t have clean drinking water. 119 people are still unaccounted for and people are dying daily of disease and lack of medical help. But hey, their dark and speak Spanish and aren’t real Americans anyway right? At least to Trump and FEMA. They should just be happy he did anything at all!
America is losing around the world, as well as here at home. We’re losing our humanity, compassion, empathy and leadership roles. With the exception of North Korea, the rest of the world acts like he is a crazy uncle at a family Thanksgiving dinner. No one wants him there, but you just learn to tolerate him. No one really pays attention as we all know he is crazy. Trump is that uncle.
Yesterday I actually "missed" GW Bush. I thought no one could have disgraced the office any worse. Trump actually made me miss his Presidency. Bush cost me a great factory job, but that loss is nothing compared to the damage Trump is bringing on our Country and our People.
Real Presidents promote peace, patriotism, not nationalism or nativism. They try and unite us, not divide us. They show our strength through compassion, not hate and strong talk. We take care of our own, not just talk about what we think we did. It is about us, not me. Harry Truman had a plaque on his desk that read "the Buck stops here!" He was taking reasonability for mistakes and failures committed by his government. Trump should have one that says “nothing stops here, ever, as it is NEVER MY FAULT"
I just hope Republicans "wake-up" before we allow this madman to destroy 250 years of growth and expansion and leadership. 200 yrs. of trust and strength through peace and compassion. Shared goals and dreams. The things that “actually” made America great.
They need to quit defending his barbarous behavior and stand for our Country and its people and the Constitution they swore to defend. It’s time to be American first. To put America before party or dogma. To take a stand. To be the checks and balance you’re supposed to be. So he insults you, cuts you down and threatens to run candidates against you if you oppose his will. His “will” is not Americas Promise or desire. Your job is to make him play nice and by rules set over 200 yrs. ago. Rules you blasted every other President for even attempting to try and work around or circumvent. Hold him to the same rules, instead of acting like he is some sort of threat. Put Americans First. America really first Do your jobs and protect us from this moron before he, as Bannon wants, “tears it all down”.
