Received this e-mail today from Governor Tom Wolf’s (D. PA) re-election campaign:
This should go without saying: combating the opioid crisis is a non-partisan issue.
It's also an urgent issue that requires immediate attention from our state Legislature.
Governor Tom Wolf has already secured millions of dollars in federal funding to get more Pennsylvanians suffering from the disease of addiction into treatment and on the road to recovery, but we need to keep fighting.
Add your name to the petition and join Governor Wolf in urging the General Assembly to pass new legislation that would provide first responders, law enforcement, and community leaders the tools they need to take on the opioid and heroin crisis.
One bill will limit opioid prescriptions to seven days and mandate that all prescribers talk to their patients about the risks of addiction.
Unfortunately, politicians with ties to the pharmaceutical industry are working to stop us from strengthening law enforcement's ability to take on over-prescribing and the spread of drugs from predatory dispensers.
Help us act quickly and ask the General Assembly -- both Democrats and Republicans -- to pass anti-opioid legislation immediately and to stop protecting big pharma's profits at the expense of Pennsylvanians.
Sign this petition now.
Thanks,
Jeff
