Good morning Riders and Kossaks.
I was in a group yesterday and there was a post offering prayers to a rider who was down. No name or condition was given just a town. Then the normal thoughts and prayers were posted. then a person went on a rant about "thoughts and Prayers". Being in pain and waiting for meds to kick in I did not feel I should chime in on the rant.
You see last Wednesday I was one of those riders down post.
After doing a Patriot guard mission in Fortville I was on my way home and went down in a construction zone were the lane was uneven, a 2-inch drop in the asphalt and barrels not positioned correctly and as I attempted to get back up on the lane I impacted one big orange barrel, throwing me to the right and off my ride. I was lucky that I was not hurt more than I was. I have a broken leg, bruising of my entire right side. My knee has issues along with my entire right arm. I'm lucky that no traffic was coming the other direction and that my fellow riders were there to lend medical assistance. I'm also lucky an off-duty Sheriff was just a couple cars back and called for medical help. Now after getting out of the ER many hours later and getting home and posting a picture of how I looked to prove to friends I was OK. I saw a posting about ("Biker Down" SR 67 and I-69 thoughts and prayers). Of course, no info on who or their condition was given. And there were the many thoughts and prayers lined up from people from all over. In my puffed and bloody eye's that went straight to my heart. It was a touch from God's hands giving me comfort in my time of need and my wife's time of need.Being on the receiving end of those simple and thought to be meaningless comments was not in any manner meaningless to me nor my family. So next time you whoever you were that ranted about the many thoughts and prayers lined up from people on a Biker down posting. Think a minute about what you would feel if on the other end and how simple words are answers to prayers . and that one simple one-word post can be a prayer and give hope to one who needs's it. Think of those words as a ribbon being tied on a tree or fence as a prayer. but its online.
