This is what you voted for. Are you happy?
That’s the refrain we have to push all through 2018 and all the way to 2020.
President Obama said it: elections have consequences. A slight majority of those of you who voted last year voted for Hillary Clinton. But most of you didn’t vote at all, and the rest of you voted for Trump. So, you must be happy now, since you have what you wanted. Trump’s done exactly what he said he was going to do. Unlike George W. Bush, who campaigned as a peace-loving moderate and governed as a warmongering neocon, Trump is exactly the President he told you all he’d be. He’s going to take away your health insurance; he’s going to cut your boss’s taxes; he’s going to deport the people who harvest the food you eat and the people who fixed your roof last year. Trump’s going to fire people whose job it is to make sure your food is safe to eat, that the water you drink and the air you breathe are clean, and that your working conditions are safe. He’ll also screw your parents out of their medical benefits; we can’t be wasting money on sick old people who are only going to die anyway sooner or later, right?
Be happy, America! You’re getting exactly what you want, finally! Isn’t that a wondrous thing?
