There’s been a whole lot of dumpster fire happening the past few months, but I think it’s also important to remember what we’re thankful for, especially on a day like Thanksgiving.
First and foremost, I’m thankful I’m here. Fingers crossed, I’ll be two years cancer-free in January.
I’m thankful for my family and friends. They took such good care of me when I was sick. I always had someone asking if I’d eaten, if I’d had my water for the day, or if I needed a “Judge Judy” marathon-watching buddy. You can never have too much Judy.
I’m thankful for a job I love, and thankful to the Daily Kos community for advocating for DACA, the DREAM Act, and issues that are so important to America’s immigrant communities.
I’m thankful I have food, water, clothing, and housing for my physical needs. I’m thankful I have wine for some of my emotional and spiritual needs in this Trump era.
I’m particularly thankful for the leaders, activists, writers, protesters, and resisters who keep me inspired every day. I’m thankful for the people who help me think in different ways, how I can be a better ally, and how I can be a better human being.
I’m also thankful for cats. Meowy cats, naughty cats, black cats, hairless cats, fat cats, skinny cats, three-legged cats, all cats. Cats just really make me happy. I will fight you on this.
What about you? What are you thankful for during this Thanksgiving holiday?
