I wrote a diary earlier, about the recent kerfuffle regarding the claims of supporters of the presidential campaign of Senator Sanders that the DNC ‘rigged primaries in Secretary Clinton’s favor. (reminder: Senator Sanders ended that campaign on July 11, 2016, and officially endorsed Secretary Clinton). The claims of a rigged primary system fall under the category of ‘never too late to recycle ridiculous conspiracy theories, no matter how many times specious claims are exposed’.
At the end of my previous diary, I asked this question:
Other than selling books, for Donna Brazille, who is this debunked story— peddled right as the Mueller investigation is starting to knock down the bowling pins, strike after strike-- benefiting?
We have an answer to this question.
The ludicrous display of outrage directed at that corrupt woman and the corrupt DNC , which might otherwise serve as an amusing aside on a Friday morning, instead has a more pernicious effect— to give cover to the Trump/Putin cabal, which appears increasingly to be nailed dead -to-rights by Robert Mueller’s Justice League superhero line-up of prosecutors.
How does it give cover?
Ask Mr. Trump himself (from earlier today):
In recent weeks, we learned that Russia’s social media campaign was much more extensive than previously known, and much of this campaign was designed to sow discord among progressives. The Russians knew who to target to best accomplish this:
Several activists who ran Facebook pages for Bernie Sanders, for instance, noticed a suspicious flood of hostile comments about Mrs. Clinton after Mr. Sanders had already ended his campaign and endorsed her.
John Mattes, who ran the “San Diego for Bernie Sanders” page, said he saw a shift from familiar local commenters to newcomers, some with Eastern European names — including four different accounts using the name “Oliver Mitov.”
“Those who voted for Bernie, will not vote for corrupt Hillary!” one of the Mitovs wrote on Oct. 7. “The Revolution must continue! #NeverHillary”
Any chance these ads, and fictitious supporters of the anti-DNC campaign found their way to this Facebook page?:
Giving Trump and the GOP cover helps Democrats win elections, how exactly?
