James Lingley, President of the Northwest Florida Federation of Labor located in Pensacola, has announced that his labor federation has endorsed HR 676, national single payer health care, also called Expanded and Improved Medicare for All.
Lingley, a machinist and a member of the International Association of Machinists (IAM) stated, “A single payer system will not only help those currently without insurance, but it will also drive down costs of prescriptions that big pharma drives the price of greatly. It will also save middle class families money in other areas as well. A single payer system is a win-win for the greatest majority of Americans.”
The Northwest Florida Federation of Labor represents members of local unions in the Florida Panhandle with chapters in Tallahassee, Panama City, and Pensacola.
HR 676 currently has 120 cosponsors in the House of Representatives and is model legislation based on the Physicians Proposal for a National Health Plan. Information on that proposal is available at this link.
