Where’s Senator Hatch’s proof that the 86 percent of all Americans who receive some sort of government assistance in the form of college student aid, Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), unemployment benefits, and veterans benefits are lazy bums who prefer to live on government handouts because they won’t help themselves, won’t lift a finger, and expect the federal government to do everything?
Hatch has no proof because there is no way that any thinking person could ever believe that six out of seven Americans are loafers.
The larger question is what impact do federal benefits have on the economy?
Is Orrin Hatch so far out of touch that he does not know that Americans who receive benefits have families to support, medical bills to pay, vehicles to maintain, apartments and homes to rent, and tuition to pay so they are likely to put every dollar they receive back into the economy?
Or, is Orrin Hatch just another a plutocrat like Marie Antoinette, the wife of France’s King Louis XVI, who, when she learned that her subjects had no bread in 1789, sniffed, “Qu'ils mangent de la brioche” (let them eat cake)?
Huh?
