Received this e-mail today from U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s (D. OH) re-election campaign:
Last week Republicans in the Senate advanced their so-called "tax reform" plan in the dead of night. But I want to be clear about something. The GOP plan is not reform. It doesn’t improve anything for the middle class or working families. It explodes the deficit. It raises taxes on close to 13 million middle-class families by 2019 and 87 million by 2027. It also leaves 13 million people uninsured and raises premiums by 10 percent each year. We need the GOP to drop this irresponsible plan. It’s bad for the economy and bad for the majority of Americans. Add your name to tell them to put families first. It’s not too late>> Any worthy attempt to fix our tax code can’t just be a handout to wealthy individuals and corporations. Until Republicans decide to work with Democrats to put forth a balanced policy that won’t grow income inequality and squeeze the finances of middle-class families, we have to fight back. This is not over yet. The tax plan still has to go through additional legislative procedures before it goes to President Trump’s desk. We have a small window of opportunity to defeat it. I’m asking everyone to come together to stop this plan from becoming law and weakening our economy for years to come. Add your name now. With gratitude, Sherrod
