Received this e-mail today from the Progressive Change Campaign Committee:
The New York Times reports that the flood of campaign spending by billionaires and big corporations could get much worse.
New York Times: "A Democrat on the Federal Election Commission is quitting her term early ... offering President Trump an unexpected chance to shape political spending rules. Ann M. Ravel said during an interview that she would send Mr. Trump her letter of resignation this week."
The FEC is in charge of enforcing all campaign finance laws. With 3 Democrats and 3 obstructionist Republicans, it's already pretty gummed up.
But if Republicans get a 3-2 majority, or Trump tries to stack the commission with a fourth anti-reform commissioner, the FEC could dismantle even more campaign finance laws. The corrupting influence of big money in our elections could skyrocket.
Sign our petition urging Democratic FEC Commissioner Ann Ravel to STAY AND FIGHT -- NOT RESIGN. (You’ll also be able to include a personal note asking her not to resign.)
Then, can you chip in $3 to our work fighting against Trump's agenda -- in Congress AND at government agencies and commissions? And, retweet PCCC co-founder Adam Green’s tweet imploring Ms. Ravel not to resign.
According to the Times, Ravel is leaving because of "a series of deadlocked votes between the panel’s three Democrats and three Republicans that she said left her little hope the group would ever be able to rein in campaign finance abuses."
But a mostly-deadlocked FEC is far better than an FEC that actively works to weaken campaign finance laws.
Millions of people are suffering every day under Trump. Ann Ravel has our sympathy -- but her vote really matters. As a matter of duty to the public, we ask her to stay and fight.
Sign our petition urging Ann Ravel to stay and fight letting her know we need her at the FEC.

Thanks for being a bold progressive.
