On Monday, the White House tweeted that the FBI directors and the National Security Agency told Congress that Russia did not influence the 2016 Presidential Election.
However, this is not true. While these hearings were going on, President Trump’s official Twitter account, @POTUS, not @realDonaldTrump, tweeted, “The NSA and FBI tell Congress that Russia did not influence electoral process.”
NSA Director Mike Rogers said they have no evidence that votes were changed, with the caveat that they aren’t the authority on domestic issues. This is very different than saying that Russia didn’t influence the U.S. election.
This could either be the president lying, or maybe he’s just not that smart. It certainly isn’t the first time he has said something completely false with confidence.
