While various bodies, including the press, are investigating various contacts during the presidential campaign between Trump campaign associates and Russian agents, let’s not forget Ivanka Trump’s the widely reported Croatian vacation with Wendi Deng Murdoch, reported to be Vladimir Putin’s girlfriend or one of his girlfriends. See thehill.com/… and www.vanityfair.com/… The romantic link between Ms. Deng and the Russian Dictator has, to be fair, not been confirmed, but is persistently reported.
Totally innocent? Maybe, indeed probably, but maybe not. What was said, perhaps naively and innocently by Ivanka, that Wendi might have reported back to the Russian dictator? Or worse, could it be that the two were in liaison as part of the conspiracy? Maybe not, but maybe. This was right in the middle of the Wikileaks releases so damaging to Trump’s opponent. As Ms. Deng maintains a residence in New York (I am unsure if she is an American citizen), she is amenable to compulsory process if the FBI or either Intelligence Committee of Congress wishes to interrogate her. The same is obviously true of a special prosecutor. After all, Ivanka’s husband was part of the campaign and no one in the White House staff is more senior except the President himself.
For a long time, weren’t Trump and his people saying that there was no Trump campaign contact for any Russian or Putin agent? OK, except for Flynn (woops!) and Jared Kushner (OK, after the election) and Carter Page (during the campaign, twice) and Jeff Beuregard (“Bo Knows”) Sessions (three times), and J.D. Gordon. Investigators, you are going to call each of these people as witnesses. Why not also Wendi Deng Murdoch and Ivanka Trump?
Look, if you are going to investigate something as obviously made up and provably false as the alleged Obama wiretap on Trump, you certainly should at least interrogate the two women about what went on, who suggested the vacation, who said what to whom.
