From the official Dump Comstock press release
Residents of Virginia's 10th Congressional District gathered in Winchester, VA today at the site of a new crowdfunded billboard. The billboard criticizes Rep. Barbara Comstock (R) for failing to hold an in person town hall - something that residents have been demanding for several months now.
Before the group could raise money for the project, however, they needed to become familiar with federal regulations related to campaign spending. "We soon realized that we needed to form a Super PAC", explained Lynne Anderson, another member of the group. "Most of us were completely new to politics but we were determined to figure the process out."
On March 22, Dump Comstock announced their intention to raise funds for the billboard on social media. The group announced the next day that the full amount had been raised through a series of small donations. According to the Dump Comstock Twitter account, the average donation was $26.
Members of the group gathered on Monday for a photo in front of the billboard. The sign will be up for a month.
