Some great news today out Georgia courtesy of MoveOn.org:
The upcoming election in Georgia’s 6th Congressional District presents a clear opportunity for DemocratJon Ossoff to flip a longtime Republican seat. In a new poll conducted by Lake Research Partners forMoveOn.org, Ossoff is the clear leader in the open primary, taking 40% of the vote, with leadingRepublican candidate Handel at 18%, and the rest of the candidates in the single digits. Most of those voting for Ossoff are strong supporters. Ossoff has consolidated Democratic voters, winning 86% of their vote with only 8% left undecided. No other Democratic candidate receives more than 1% of the vote.Ossoff also leads among independent voters, a key bloc in this race. If Ossoff can win half of the remaining undecided voters (19%), he has a chance to win outright on April 18.
Ossoff is also in a good place for the runoff if the race continues into June. In a head-to-head ballot with positive profiles, Ossoff and Handel tie with 45% of the vote each. Independents support Ossoff by a 21-point margin.
Health care is the top issue in this district, and one where Ossoff presents a clear contrast to the deeply unpopular Trump/Republican health care plan. Though GA-06 is a Republican-leaning district, theRepublican health care plan tests far more negatively than the Affordable Care Act, with 59% of likely voters viewing it unfavorably.
Let's keep up the momentum and win this race. Click here to donate and get involved with Ossoff’s campaign.
