If you’re familiar with older phone tech, you’ll probably “get” this faster than those who have grown up in an era of ubiquitous mobile phones: there’s an old “TV Trope” where a person is terrorized by phone calls while home alone one night (or while alone babysitting), and a frantic call to the police to ask them to trace the call the next time it happens leads to a terrifying discovery — that the caller is actually inside the house. From the TV Tropes page about it:
"Jess, the caller is in the house. The calls are coming from the house!"
This is a classic urban legend horror scenario: A young woman who is home alone. Often she is a baby sitter. She gets a creepy phone call asking, "Have you checked the kids?" She calls the police. They trace it and they tell her, "The calls are coming from inside the house."
You can read the rest at the link. As for the comic above — I hope you enjoy it. :) I got the idea for the spread from that bottom-left large image, which thought I saw here one Daily Kos first. I know I created one like it, too, when I couldn’t find the original. (Or had I imagined it?) Anywho —
Enjoy. Feedback welcome, of course.
Have a great weekend, everyone.
