Merrick Garland as FBI director remains a colossally stupid idea that no Democrat or liberally thinking person should go near, and yes, we're still talking to Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) but also Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD). If they still need convincing, here's Mitch McConnell.
McConnell also says he recommended to Trump that he nominate Merrick Garland to replace fired FBI Director James Comey. Garland, the federal judge nominated to the Supreme Court last year by President Barack Obama, was denied a Senate hearing by McConnell.
Gee, why would McConnell think this was such a good idea? Could there be some ulterior motive involved? Like maybe something to do with the second highest court on the land and getting a reliable Republican operative on the court, just like he did on the Supreme Court, after a year-long blockade of Garland's nomination there?
No. Just no.
