Received this e-mail today from Gretchen Whitmer’s (D. MI) election campaign:
A storm is brewing right now in Lansing, one that could harm the working men and women of this state.
Anti-worker special interest groups are plotting to repeal our state’s prevailing wage law, taking hard-earned money out of the pockets of the working people who build our roads, bridges, and schools.
This attack is part of a national effort led by groups funded by people like the DeVoses to take away worker protections -- and we have to stop it in its tracks here in Michigan.
Add your name to say you stand against this attack on the people who do the hard work of rebuilding our state!
This is another example of corporate bosses trying to increase their profit margins on the backs of our state’s middle class families. It’s also shortsighted. We already have a shortage of skilled workers in Michigan, and this would only make things worse.
Just like they tried to sell “right to work” with phony promises of new jobs, which failed to materialize, they say repealing prevailing wage will save taxpayers money. But a Republican legislative leader in Indiana recently admitted that repealing their prevailing wage law “hasn’t saved a penny.”
Don't let our state make the same mistake.
Join me in calling for an end to these attacks on the working people of Michigan!
We all know there’s a lot of work ahead to rebuild our state, and the men and women doing this work need to be paid well enough to take care of themselves and their families.
I’ll never stop fighting to make sure we stand up for our workers, and I hope I can count on you to stand with me.
Thank you,
Gretchen
