One of the newsfeeds I use for convenience is Yahoo. Does that make me a yahoo? Almost certainly. But it also has allowed me to follow trends over the years.
Back in 2010, when I saw a story about ObamaCare on Yahoo, I would extol the law’s virtues. The constant response was dozens of “thumbs down” and a few or zero “thumbs up.”
The response got slightly better over time.
But then there was a relapse during the run-up to the 2016 general election. Trumpers and Kochers and Russian bots swarmed, and it was not pretty. Tonight, however, I checked my newsfeed and found something altogether startling.
THE NEW TREND
I read an article about how Representative Granny-Starving Munster (R-Wisc/Ghoul) would not refer the AHCA to the Senate until after it receives a score from the Congressional Budget Office (CBO). The article is titled, “There’s a Chance the House Might Have to Vote Again on the GOP Healthcare Bill Because of a Procedural Mistake.” You can read it here.
I won’t get my hopes up because the House of Representatives is chock full of Republican idiots and evildoers who have no compunction about violating laws, rules, ethics or becoming accessories to murder in order to give tax breaks to their masters. I do have hope in reading the comments.
They overwhelmingly favor ObamaCare, and they don’t pull any punches. For example:
And then there’s this:
And it continues:
And it keeps going and going.
Granted there are only 179 “reactions” at this time, not counting replies, but this is a great sign of where we are right now.
By the way, the main reason for my post this morning was the shock I felt when reading these comments. The article, itself, is interesting as well. Apparently, Ryan has not forwarded the AHCA to the Senate yet because it has not been scored by the CBO. The Senate is already working on their version, however, so this is mostly about procedure and not substance.
Yet, it has caused more problems within the Republican caucus and has also raised obvious questions about hypocrisy. If they really cared about the budget….
So cheers to everybody and keep fighting!
