I’m not going to bore you with the facts that you can find in many trustworthy places, but surely you know that Texas is poised to pass another “Bathroom Bill”. Please, idiots, go away.
I just want to make one point here — why do we endure the fact that so many state legislatures are spending the majority of their time on religious right dynamics rather than solving serious problems facing our country and our planet.
Where does all this “urgency” come from? They want to lead us into a kind of era dominated by the Comstock Act (read “Sex and the Constitution”).
Why are they not spending precious legislative time protecting the vulnerable, changing our economy toward renewable energies, solving a growing water crisis, reforming campaign finance, creating a health care system that serves all Americans and addresses the harm of the profit motive in the “Health Care Industry”. Since when is healthcare a matter of marketing, advertising, making obscene profits, etc.; neither a market, nor a business, nor an industry. It’s about the value of each human life.
Come on, politicians — especially those of you who greased your way into your position with money from the religious right. Wake up to the real world where people die, where there is no eternal life, and where we should strive to appreciate the incredible gift we have of being here at all.
Sometimes I just have to get things off my chest. I find physical and emotional changes in myself living through the Reign of Trump, and I’m exhausted.
