When I first heard Trump saying the Manchester bomber and other terrorists were “evil losers” like others (see image) I was struck by the wording.
Now he’s saying he didn’t want to call them monsters so from now on he’s calling them losers…. I wonder who got to him to rationalize his putting them in the same category of dozens of others he’s called losers, or he actually figured this out for himself.
The remarks he gave (no doubt written for him) were what we’d expect from a president. Did he add his Twitter meme himself? We’ll never know. I have a hunch that he couldn’t resist it.
We stand in absolute solidarity with the people of the United Kingdom,” Trump said. “So many young beautiful, innocent people living and enjoying their lives murdered by evil losers in life.
“I won’t call them monsters because they would like that term. They would think that’s a great name. I will call them, from now on, losers, because that’s what they are. They are losers. And we will have more of them. But they are losers, just remember that.
“Our society can have no tolerance for this continuation of bloodshed, we cannot stand a moment longer for the slaughter of innocent people. And in today’s attack it was mostly innocent children. The terrorists and extremists and those who give them aid and comfort must be driven out from our society for ever.
“This wicked ideology must be obliterated – and I mean completely obliterated – and the innocent life must be protected. All civilised nations must join together to protect human life and the sacred right our citizens to live in safety and in peace.” from The Guardian
Did he actually come up with a fairly reasonable, possibly creative, if totally unpresidential idea? Does he think he can rebrand the terrorists and it will make an difference?
If terrorists ever heard of any of the people (below) will they even know who they are? Will they have any idea what the word “loser” means coming from Trump?
