Where I live, spring comes late. What’s blooming here has probably already gone kaput where you live. Over the fold are photos of what’s blooming around our house right now.
But first, a word from our sponsor:

Right now, the rhododendrons are at their height.
We planted two rhododendron2 in the back yard about 10 years ago, but they kept getting eaten down to the ground by deer and groundhogs every year until we put chickenwire fences around them. Finally, the first of these shrubs has blooms on it!
The year my mother died, I took a few cuttings and bulbs from her yard in the hopes that they would grow here. The hazelnut cutting could not take our winters, but the other two seem quite happy here, even with the late frosts. Here’s the calycanthus, my Italian grandmother’s favorite, blooming it’s heart out (if a little out of focus).
And then my mother’s favorite, les muguet des bois, or lily of the valley. (Pardon our mess.)
Hubby planted some columbines in the garden…
...but they sprout and bloom wild in various parts of the yard anyway (again, out of focus).
That’s most of what’s blooming around here right now. I’m enjoying it while it lasts.
Now, to the comments!
