After passing their bill to strip health insurance from millions of their own constituents in order to give wealthy Americans yet another massive tax cut, House Republicans—at least, the ones who dared—quickly boarded buses to be shuttled off to the Rose Garden and stand with the new face of their party, Donald Trump.
Mike Pence delivered opening remarks, because stripping healthcare from sick Americans is what Jesus would do: "Welcome to the beginning of the end of Obamacare." He is a malevolent freak, and deserves not a speck of respect from anybody so stop giving it to him.
Lining themselves behind the podium, Paul Ryan and the other Republicans smiled happily as Trump bragged about his party's accomplishment against "the ravages of Obamacare." Trump promised premiums and deductibles would both go down. He assured America that the Senate would pass it.
"This is a great plan. I actually think it will get even better."
"I predicted [Obamacare] was failing. [...] It's essentially dead."
"How am I doing? Am I doing okay? Hey, I'm president! I'm president, can you believe it?"
"This has brought the Republican Party together. We're going to get this finished."
Then it was House Speaker Paul Ryan's turn, and he's been dreaming about stripping health insurance from Americans since his days at college keggers. He listed off the committee members who helped him do it. He called it "the best bill possible," and singled out Reince Priebus specifically. "We could not have done this without you, you guys are the best." Then Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy stepped up to brag about how nonpartisan the bill was. No, I'm not kidding. "Today is the start of a new beginning."
Not pictured: Any Senate Republicans, who just got this monstrosity dumped in their laps while their House counterparts celebrated. Also not pictured: The millions of Americans who will be priced out of health insurance or health care entirely if Trump, Paul Ryan, and the rest of these bastards get their way. They’ll be showing up at congressional offices and at town halls, though, and they will be heard.
Make them pay: Donate $1 right now to each of the Democratic nominee funds targeting vulnerable House Republicans who voted to destroy access to health care.
