Well house caught on fire as of course I have noted too many times here. Torn to the studs and getting rebuilt as we speak.
There were some issues outside of what insurance would pay, and I decided to just borrow the money and get my house in a condition to be "huggggeeee" for another 30+ years. New roof. New foundation work so my sump pump works better. Heck my sump pump has a battery back-up and alarm. Will text me even.
New sewer line.
And this is where I could use some help.
Contractor had the city come out and mark the sewer line. They were 4-6 feet off. Contractor broke the line. I flooded the basements, and we all have basements that are TOTALLY furnished where I live, of almost a city block. Those closer massive damaged. 4-5 household away not so much.
The city after the call was placed, at 2:37 PM, took an hour to show up (and I know this from other folks, not just my contractor). Took them 2 more hours to turn off the water. They told the lady that lives behind me, and I am close with her, they didn't want to shut off the water, but clamp it down, because if they shut it off they would have to issue a "boil order."
I either know my neighbors well and good friends or I barely know their names.
Been told by my lawyer not to talk to anybody I don't trust 110% and then not really talk to them. This is on my contractor if there is a pissing match with the City. And there will be …..
That the city will argue it is my contractors fault. Contractor will argue it isn’t. I will be stuck in the middle.
Folks have taken to Facebook to blame me and my contractor. I have not even looked at the posts nor responded to them.
WTF should and/or can I do?
