Well, NOW we know the REAL reason why Bernie didn’t want to talk about Hillary’s damn emails:
Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and his wife, Jane Sanders have hired prominent defense attorneys amid an FBI investigation into a loan Jane Sanders obtained to expand Burlington College while she was its president, CBS News confirms.
Politico Magazine first reported the Sanders had hired lawyers to defend them in the probe. Sanders' top adviser Jeff Weaver told CBS News the couple has sought legal protection over federal agents' allegations from a January 2016 complaint accusing then-President of Burlington College, Ms. Sanders, of distorting donor levels in a 2010 loan application for $10 million from People's United Bank to purchase 33 acres of land for the institution.
According to Politico, prosecutors might also be looking into allegations that Sen. Sanders' office inappropriately urged the bank to approve the loan.
Burlington attorney and Sanders supporter Rich Cassidy has reportedly been hired to represent Sen. Sanders. And high-profile Washington defense attorney Larry Robbins, who counseled I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, is protecting Jane Sanders.

While the headline of the story on CBS News’s website implies that Bernie himself is actually under an FBI investigation, the body of the story indicates that Bernie himself may be under criminal investigation, so that explains the ambiguity in the title of this story that I’m writing on DailyKos.
As someone who voted for Bernie in the 2016 Illinois primary, I would publicly regret my vote if Bernie and/or Jane Sanders are indicted, and I’m certain that most of the millions who supported Bernie in his unsuccessful presidential bid will regret supporting him as well. For a politician to build a national political profile on railing against Wall Street greed to be indicted for a role in a bank fraud scandal would be the height of hypocrisy.
Even though we have a presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law system in America, the progressive movement in America is going to have to advocate for progressive ideals like guaranteeing quality, affordable health care for all Americans, lifting people out of poverty, protecting and expanding the social safety net, protecting human rights, and so on without Bernie as a leader or de facto leader of the progressive movement in America before too long, in all likelihood.
