Short and anything-but-sweet for this week, but after seeing two DK diaries about two deluded groups of our fellow citizens (.....), self the loser just couldn't resist the topic. The two groups, and the respective diaries, are:
(a) Trump voters trapped in bubble of denial on Russia: 72 percent call Trump-Russia ties 'fake news'
(b) Cornell Belcher: Some millennials of color do NOT regret their 3rd party/non-votes in 2016. ""
The poll topic is obvious, of course: who are the worse / dumber losers? And no, there is no "All of the above" option. You have to choose one. (“All of the above” is too easy.)
On the surface, based strictly on numbers, it would seem obvious, namely Drumpf voters in denial of reality. People who see, or at least nominally see, the seditious words of Drumpf Jr. ("If it's what you say it is I love it"), and deny their reality and dismiss it as "fake news", are pretty much totally incapable of intelligent decisions in the voting booth. The catch, of course, is that Drumpfists were so far gone mentally, throughout all of 2016, in their Anybody-But-Clinton-ness that they were never going to vote for her — you know, the smarter, saner, more qualified candidate. They should have known better, but we never really expected them to.
Memo to Drumpfists who cannot process reality, even when it’s handed to them directly: you are not to be trusted with anything. I wouldn't even trust you to watch my cat. (Neither would she.)
With millenials of color, though, whom one would expect to lean Democratic, it's a different, subtler level of loserness. One would expect them to be smarter, or at the least less dumb, than outright Drumpfists. Unfortunately, they were in denial in their own way then, and are still in denial now, just as much as Drumpfists. Kurt Eichenwald summed it up best in his Newsweek commentary after the November election, a passage that I've quoted before, but which needs repeating and repeating, and throwing in the faces of these millennial idiots (and all other idiots who knew Drumpf was appalling, but still nonetheless refused to vote intelligently):
“Of course, there will still be those voters who snarl, “She didn’t earn my vote,” as if somehow their narcissism should override all other considerations in the election. That, however, is not what an election is about. Voters are charged with choosing the best person to lead the country, not the one who appeals the most to their egos."
Memo to those millennial voters of color who don't regret their non-votes for HRC: you failed the country miserably. (Of course, you're so self-absorbed that you can't process that. In that sense, you are no better than Drumpfists above.)
But then the whole question of who is the worse of the two: well, that's a subjective, and, of course, pointless, exercise here, since it will change nothing, and only add uselessly to DK's and the internet's carbon footprint. With that, time for the standard SNLC protocol, namely your loser stories for the week.....
