The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, under its Chair, Joe Biden, has announced that it will award the 2017 Liberty Medal (medal is allegedly for courage) to moral coward Arizona Senator John McCain. www.constitutioncenter.org
The ceremony is at 7pm on October 16 at the National Constitution Center, a block away from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall.
We need many thousands in the streets of downtown Philadelphia during rush hour and later on Monday, October 16 to tell John McCain, Joe Biden and America what we think of John McCain’s cowardly vote to repeal Obamacare.
McCain interrupted his treatment for his (likely fatal — not being cruel, just stating facts) form of aggressive brain cancer to appear in the Senate so he could cast THE DECIDING PROCEDURAL 50th VOTE (to get to the magic 50 Senate votes needed) to advance the Republican “healthcare” bill that would repeal much of Obamacare and result in tens of millions of Americans losing their health care.
McCain is an entitled and privileged recipient of his own generous healthcare coverage, but McCain personally supports the bill to deny similar access (or even any access) to health care to tens of millions of his fellow Americans.
No one can doubt that many years ago John McCain was courageous. He was a hero during the Vietnam War.
But he lost his spine around 2008 when he ran for President and pandered to right wing Republican primary voters and has accomplished nothing — nothing — since then.
I hope that some progressive organization organizes a massive and peaceful street demonstration in Philadelphia on Monday, October 16.
