Leading lefty blogger Atrios (Duncan Black, a.k.a. the “Baby Blue Cherub”) brings up that in last year’s presidential race, while the result was so close that every factor was the deciding factor (Electoral College, bigotry, economic policy, etc.), it was the reality of what we faced, and the election never should’ve gotten as close as it did. He somewhat leaves aside the matter of Democratic electoral minorities in the Senate, House, statehouses, and governorships, but he asks the essential question:
There's a kind of "NOTOURFAULT" fatalism which does not bode well for the next election. If there is absolutely nothing "we" could have done differently - and I don't mean a critique of Clinton's ad spending or other campaign minutiae, but Democrats over the previous 8 years - then... pack it in, I guess? It's Trump's America now?
