So in a previous episode of Taking Back The House, an astute commenter noted that there were a lot of headlines with a lot of bad news. In that spirit, here’s some highlights and good news.
We were going to visit my parents for their annual caroling party, but that whole Georgia snow storm thing intervened. Instead, we went to our neighborhood Christmas party, where I joined the neighborhood chorus. We had lots of good food, singing, and of course passing out business cards. We never did make it to Little Rock, but at least we have great neighbors.
Our oldest wanted only a few things for Christmas. A stuffed unicorn and a dollhouse. Apparently letters mailed from Cracker Barrel do find their way to the North Pole, and our kids woke up to a lovingly crafted dollhouse. On a completely unrelated note, if you want Santa to bring your children a similar dollhouse, make sure Santa has had some practice building them. Also stuffed unicorns can fit in dollhouses.
The youngest wanted a ball. She got a dollhouse instead. She's happier, as far as I can tell. They ended up getting Sant… err… daddy Super Mario Odyssey.
My wife requests my cinnamon rolls every year. By mine, I of course mean Alton Brown's overnight recipe. Easy, simple, and delicious. She also knows me really well, and commissioned this awesome piece from local artist 8 Bit Bob, which I absolutely love.
So we've spent the break from school playing Mario Odyssey, watching movies, and being around friends and family. The coming months are going to be hectic and scheduled full, but it's been nice to have a few weeks with no agenda beyond video games on the couch with my girls. These are going to be some stressful times as we take back Congress, so be sure to take dandelion breaks when you need them.
*Update* I completely forgot pictures.
