So today the Washington Post reported that
- POTUS is suing to stifle a book being published
- AG Sessions is finally ready to really fight against that scourge, marjuana
- We’re enacting the “drill everywhere, who needs water” energy plan
I’m sure this aggravates you as much as it does me. No public figure is immune to criticism, all the way up to POTUS. It’s an affront to all of us who protect and defend the Constitution that our chief executive would callously disregard our most fundamental right. It’s not surprising, though.
It’s foolhardy to think that AG Sessions’s plan will do anything but waste federal resources at the expense of other, larger problems, such as the opioid crisis in our country. Prohibition does not work, has not worked, and will not work. The only outcome this will have is prolonging the tragedy of our private prison industry’s existence. It’s also foolish to pretend this policy is free of racism.
We do face an energy crisis, and whatever nation solves it will lead the world going forward. Our traditional energy supplies are dwindling, while our demand for energy continues to climb. Expanding offshore drilling only intensifies the problem, with the added guarantee of polluting our shores.
This is just one day. It can get overwhelming, but don’t lose focus. There is good news. Remember Trump’s “Voter Fraud Commission”? Yeah, that’s gone. The administration blamed states’ refusal to cooperate for it’s shuttering.
Resistance works. We can win this. We just need to help each other and work together.
