I live in Tallahassee and have been hearing some healthy skepticism at the official death toll for Florida, in particular those in Bay County, perhaps the reddest county in Florida.
This was the strongest storm to hit the panhandle in recorded history and with little warning. I have heard stories of many unaccounted for and unidentified bodies washing ashore daily. Curious if anyone else has heard similar info. I did a supply run to Jackson County which is almost in Alabama. I was shocked how bad it is ...and this is 70 miles from landfall.
Also, 7 of the 13 reported official Florida deaths are in Jackson and Gadsden county, which are far inland.
Based on how they operated in the past with Puerto Rico and the ramifications to both the Florida and national election, I do have concer these county, state and federal folks could work together to keep this quiet as possible for three more weeks.
