Beneath the high profile races for congress or governor is where the real battles for long term control of the government are waged, a fact the republicans took advantage of by taking control of redistricting and gerrymandering the country. We need democratic state legislatures that will fairly redistrict after the census, defend us from Trump and his GOP, and lay the groundwork for a progressive future. Many of these downballot candidates have been forgotten by our state Democratic parties and need our help… So I’m going to feature a few here in southwestern Minnesota with links to support them and invite you to add your favorite downballot candidates.
The first candidate I’m going to promote is Tom Wyatt-Yerka, a young first time candidate here in southwestern Minnesota’s barely red state house District 16A. He’s a progressive democrat with rural roots here in southwest Minnesota where he grew up and now lives and works. Here's his website and here's his ActBlue page.
A couple counties over in District 22B around Worthington, Minnesota’s most ethnicly diverse city, young progressive Cheniqua Johnson is running to replace a scandal plagued republican incumbent and is organizing this diverse community for future democratic victories. Here's her website and here's her ActBlue page.
Now tell us about your favorite downballot candidates!
