Received this e-mail today from Democracy for America:
The results are in!
Over the last two weeks, Democracy for America members like you cast tens of thousands of votes to determine who would become DFA's 2018 Grassroots All-Star.
And the winner is… Rashida Tlaib!
After coming out on top in her extremely competitive primary against establishment-backed Democrats, Rashida is showing real leadership as she campaigns on establishing a $15 federal minimum wage, protecting unions, passing Medicare-for-All, and standing up for the diverse community of Southern Detroit. She's even prominently featured in Michael Moore's new movie, Fahrenheit 11/9!
Rashida perfectly represents the wave of bold progressive women running for office, ready to make change in Congress. Will you chip in $3 or more right now to help her and our other Grassroots All-Stars finalists win in November?
Ahead of the these historic midterms elections -- and in the middle of a disturbing and unprecedented Supreme Court confirmation process that has reminded us that Washington is still predominantly old, white and male -- DFA members chose not one, not two, but three progressive women to be Top 3 candidates in our Grassroots All-Star competition!
Right behind Rashida was Liz Watson, running in Indiana’s 9th District, and Jess King, who is fighting to flip Pennsylvania’s 11th District. Both of these women are ready to kick Republican incumbents out of office and fight for policies that will truly help their communities, like affordable health care and an economy that works for everyone.
Like Alyssa Milano said in her message to DFA members earlier this week, it’s clear that if we want to create real change in Washington, we need to put an end to the "old boys’ club" in Congress by electing more progressive women.
Help us send these three amazing progressive women candidates to Congress: Pitch in $3 or more now to support Rashida, Liz, and Jess in these last few weeks before Election Day.
Thanks for helping take back Congress and making 2018 the next Year of the Woman.
